Best Albums of the Decade [Matt Cibula] →
cureforbedbugs:
This is probably the best decade list I’ve read so far. Matt Cibula of various places (including his own, Cave17, a site I’m, ahem, supposed to be writing for but am too lazy uh…busy to do so) draws no distinction between niche pick and consensus pick, but doesn’t come off as disingenuously contrarian. And above all he makes me want to actually listen to some of this stuff!...
For myself and for a lot of people I know who grew up in more closed...

This pretty much sums up why i dont like this stuff, although I’d add that an additional aggravation is the critical cachet it gets for being uber masculine ‘smart ppl’...

I just want to be positive for a minute and say: sub-genres are SO GREAT. They’re one of the best things about music. These little sceney bubbles of everyone batting round an idea, running with it, trying to cash in, trying to imitate, not caring about being original, not caring about being ridiculous, just this mad goldrush sprint to work through something - it’s...

Good rundown if you can put up with the disgruntled old person “voice,” which I find to be one of the most unbearable things in the world to read. I get it bro, those darn music bloggers with all their free time and free content and letting people listen to music instead of read about it are almost forcing you to get a real job, sucks.
I love Chris. but dude is a total self-hater...
I never understood, to a degree, after Marcel Duchamp’s point was proven, why...
